CUSTOM CIRCULAR SAWS DESIGNED FOR ONE OF THE BIGGEST FURNITURE SUPPLIERS OF IKEA

With a history of over 18 years, AVIVA started with cutting and planing wood materials.  Later, they started the production of parquet from solid wood (oak, cherry, walnut, ash), accessories (lamellas) in different forms and shapes and joined solid wood panels. 

From 2007, AVIVA started the production of kitchen countertops and laminated panels, quickly becoming one of the leaders in the domain. Now it`s one of the most important furniture manufacturers, being one of IKEA’s international suppliers.  

Although they work with several companies that supply tools for production lines, when they needed circular saws with custom specifications, they started a collaboration with Technowood’s engineers.  

Precisely, for detailed operations in wood materials, AVIVA needed very thin circular blades (0.8 mm), brazed with special carbide of 1.15 mm.

Being official representatives of FABA in Romania, we contacted the suppliers, trying to offer AVIVA the best solution suited for their specific needs on the production line. Although it wasn’t easy, we managed to contact the representatives of the University of raw materials in Poland and they helped us design and manufacture the desired tools

After developing the product, Technowood delivered 30 custom circular saws in order to be tested. In the following month, the saws were used on the production line and the feedback didn`t cease to appear: our tools performed excellent. 

Shortly, another order, slightly larger this time, followed – 300 circular saws. After a price negotiation, the blades were delivered and the client implemented them on the production line, but, this time, the quality of our circular blades didn`t meet the requirements.

Because we are focused on the quality of our products, we decided to withdraw the 300 custom circular saws delivered to AVIVA. Right after that, we completely analyzed the tool production process in order to identify the problem that caused the tools to dispose of parts of its body in contact with the processed material. 

After we identified the operations that were leading to the breakage of the circular saws, we were able to improve the production process and quickly produced another 300 pieces that we delivered to AVIVA. 

The new blades could be integrated into the production lines, without giving in during the operations. Since then, Technowood is the main supplier of custom circular blades for AVIVA, offering the same quality products for special operations.
