DIAMOND TOOLS
SHARPENING
WE SHARPEN DIAMOND TOOLS THROUGH
ELECTRICAL DISCHARGE MACHINING (EDM)
WHAT TYPES OF DIAMOND TOOLS
ARE WE SHARPENING?
We have invested in two high-end machines capable of performing modern and efficient diamond sharpening, which significantly extends the lifespan of the tools. With these machines, we can sharpen a variety of diamond tools, including circular saw blades, straight and profiled milling cutters, cutters for sizing and edge banding, and diamond hoggers.
THE PROCESSES THAT DIAMOND TOOLS
GO THROUGH AT TECHNOWOOD
1. Preparing the diamond tools for sharpening
→ Diamond teeth inspection
→ Tool cleaning
→ Laser marking (date & client)
→ Deciding depth of sharpening
2. Sharpening with high-end machines
→ 0,2-0,6mm sharpening
→ 2022 & 2023 machines
→ Through electrical discharge machining
3. Final checks, packaging and shipping
→ External diameter checking
→ Cutting edge checking with M. Conti
→ Attaching tool diameter label
→ Shipping/preparing for pickup
FAQ
What are the advantages of using electrical discharge machining for sharpening diamond tools?
Electrical discharge machining ensures high precision, minimizes thermal wear, allows the processing of hard materials, reduces mechanical forces and makes complex geometries achievable.
How do we measure diamond tools?
We want to constantly track the lost material, the dimensions of the diamond teeth and the tool diameter. Therefore, we measure the diamond tools both before processing, using the M. Conti machine with micron-level precision, and during machining, with the sharpening equipment. After the process, the tools go through a final stage of measurement and verification before delivery.
What is the lifespan of a diamond tool after sharpening?
The lifespan varies depending on use and working conditions, but proper sharpening can significantly extend the tool’s life.
How do we maintain the diamond tools between sharpening sessions?
Regular maintenance involves checking for wear and cleaning the tool to ensure optimal tool performance.
Is there a risk of diamond tools catching fire during the sharpening process?
During the electrical discharge machining process, we use a non-flammable dielectric fluid to cool the tool and prevent the risk of fire, protecting both the equipment and the operator.
